Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is the Mexican American sportscaster. She anchors SportsNation and is a SportsCenter anchor. She joined ESPN as a news anchor in 2016. She is the daughter of the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual since nine years old, a valuable talent that enabled her to get her first job in the production department with Univision in Miami that gave her the chance to collaborate with producers of national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her first job was as a reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate after that. In 2009, she moved from Texas into Rio Grande Valley where she became a news correspondent at KNVO TV 48 Univision. She covered stories about immigration and drug trafficking throughout Texas and Mexico. The station also frequently asked her to be a sports and weather anchor. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate where she took on other responsibilities. She covered the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. The Univision 23 channel also produced her local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra, on where she was anchor. She was the sports anchor of Despierta America Deportes morning show. In addition, she served as an anchor on sports in Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was born in Veracruz Mexico. Eventually, they settled in Mexico City and she was born on the 22nd of November in 1985. She has an elder sister. In 1992, the family moved to Miami following the move from Mexico to the US. Her parents divorced soon after in 1995. Her mother was remarried to an architect from the naval profession called Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. In June of 2006, she spent one week with her sibling at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working there. Antonietta still a senior at high school and knew exactly what career path she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union would be a good fit for her, Antonietta visited the university. She loved the campus. They also offered her the program she was interested in. After high school, she graduated and was enrolled in media studies at the university. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU, of which she's a member. They developed a close connection. He was the one who boosted her confidence, and his passion for journalism deeply touched her. She was determined to exceed his expectations always delivering on time.
